You cannot Know God if your sins are not forgiven.  There is nothing you can do to pay for your sins.  God provided the only way to have our sins forgiven.  Death is the penalty for sin, blood must be shed.  God gave us His Son Jesus, a spotless, blameless, sinless man.  Jesus took all of our sins upon Himself and paid the penalty for our sins with His blood and His life.  Why?  Jesus said " Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."  And because God loves us and so we can "Live Forever With God".

What Happened?

Jesus Christ, the Son of God knew His destiny.  Holy Scriptures of the prophets had to be fulfilled. He was here to bring you and I the New Covenant.  He was here to pay for our sins. He came to save that which was lost.  He was here to be our Savior.  He could have run away and saved His life, but He didn't.  He knew they were coming for Him.  Jesus knelt down and prayed "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."  He knew they were going to nail Him to the cross and He would die a terrible, agonizing death.  An angel from heaven came to him and strengthened him.  Sinful men came and took him to His trials and His cross.  He did His Father's will.

Sins paid for

When Jesus took all our sins he took our penalty too and became the sinner that we all are.  Even his Father, God, left him to die alone. God cannot look upon sin. 

Jesus Christ took our place.  He died on our cross with our nails for our sins.

Christ, Means Savior.  Jesus Christ saved us from death by paying for our sins with his blood and life.  And now, if we choose, we can live eternally with Him.
